The Wanderer, the Intruder, the Beggar, The guard and the Technician
This project explores fluid boundaries of identity, belonging, and cultural intersections through my perspective of migratory experiences and the power of immersive installations. Central to this project is an abstract narrative that draws upon Sufi philosophy, symbolic archetypes, and mathematical principles, each enriching stages of wandering and cultural negotiation. Figures such as the Wanderer, Intruder, Beggar, Guard, and Technician represent different roles in my own journey, with each positioned as a reflection on adaptation, cultural perspective, and identity.
My technique is meticulous, blending ceramic different traditions with design considerations. My work includes using vibrant glazes and structured forms, incorporating cultural symbolism and interactivity. The technical setup of the installation considers viewer engagement and spatial dynamics, allowing each sculpture to embody through their unique texture and color a placeholder for the viewer to see themselves in. The compositions employ a suspension and stacking of elements to one another, creating a “dialogue” between the sculptures that reflects cycles of mutual constitution and influence.
Through these philosophical and technical investigations, I offer a reimagined cultural landscape, rooted in tradition and reinterpretation. This project encourages viewers to embark on their own journey of self-reflection and cultural inquiry, enriching the dialogue around identity and belonging.
