Abstract: This series investigates the obelisk, traditionally a phallic symbol of monolithic power, and subverts it into a vessel for more vulnerable and individual human narratives. By personifying these geometric forms as "The Wanderer" or "The Guard," I employ anthropomorphic abstraction to explore social dynamics within my autobiography. The defining research element is a bifurcated surface: the application of two distinct, sometimes clashing glaze chemistries on a single vertical form. This acts as a visual metaphor for the internal contradictions of the human subject (unity and contrast). The work moves beyond the "object" to the "collective," suggesting that the orientation and interaction of these forms constitute a sociological study in spatial relationship and community identity. This research also documents how disparate glazes behave as they meet at sharp boundaries, requiring precise glazing techniques to represent the "tension of identity" within a unified structural body.
